COMMUNITY
SUSTAINABILITY
Stoneface is invested in the evolution of our sustainable practices. We believe that there is always room for improvement, and we are committed to ongoing efforts within our walls and our community to take meaningful steps forward for our planet. Our current sustainability practices include:
EFFICIENCY
We use high efficiency LED Lights and motion sensors to conserve electricity
Carbon Dioxide is generated during beer fermentation. We capture this CO2 from active fermentations that would otherwise be vented to the atmosphere and reuse this CO2 for packaging.
Water that is used for chilling beer is reused in the brewing process.
WASTEWATER
Much of the high strength wastewater that is generated during the brewing process is side-streamed and hauled to a large local treatment plant that needs the higher strength wastewater in their process. This removes the wastewater from the smaller Newington treatment plant and assists with pollution control.
The wastewater that does go down the drain to the Newington treatment plant is pH adjusted to assist with the wastewater processing.
During packaging, cans are rinsed with ionized air, instead of water. This process saves thousands of gallons of fresh water.
SOLID WASTE
Food waste, plastic cups, plates, and utensils are all compostable and are sent to Mr. Fox composting for processing. This eliminates thousands of pounds of waste from landfills.
Cans, bottles, cardboard, plastic and can carriers are all recycled.
Spent grain is hauled to local farmers to supplement the diets of dairy cattle.
Tasting room coasters are printed with QR codes for menu access. This practice eliminates wasteful printing of paper menus and allows us to dynamically update menus on the fly.
